Abstract

Electricity and gas infrastructures were independently utilized to supply different energy demands in the past. Nowadays, new technologies such as Combined heat and power (CHP) facilitates integration of different energy infrastructures with significant benefits. Efficiency increase and operation costs reduction as well as reliability enhancement and emission reduction are considered as prominent characteristics of combining different energy networks. In this paper, effects of different energy storages on performance of multi carrier energy networks and operation costs are presented. Energy hub approach and MIP (Mixed integer linear programming) model of GAMS are employed to solve the problem. An energy hub including electricity and gas networks is modeled for integration of the storages (electric, gas and heat) to supply electricity and heat demands. The results also demonstrate important effects of the technologies when the proposed hub has not potential to sell additional produced electricity to the network. Furthermore, the significant impacts of the technologies are shown when electricity and heat demands increase.
