File and team management on remotely-worked building information modelling project

Abstract

BIM process makes shift in design and construction process by promoting transparency and encouraging seamless global collaboration between team members. Although it is not as rigorous in western countries, BIM is starting to gain momentum in Indonesia as more projects nowadays requires BIM in their design-and-build process due to global market demands. This paper presents case study of BIM usage in two projects: new construction of BNI Tower and renovation of GBK National Stadium. We look how BIM was involved in project phases and how the BIM process, models, and team members were managed as the team worked remotely from different cities. In the end, based on these projects experiences, we discuss how the best BIM practices can be derived and applied in the future.
