Abstract

In a previous paper (ibid. vol.5, p.155, 1993), we studied squeezing of mechanical motion for a particle trapped in oscillating fields. We considered a model proposed by Glauber and time-dependent transformations to show that the system may exhibit quantum fluctuations below the shot noise level. Here we pursue this investigation to discuss the regions of instability, where for a certain range of parameters, variance of quadrature phase amplitudes continues to grow with time.
