A method is developed for constructing a (- pi , pi ) arc distribution function of one-dimensional coherent state superpositions on a circle from the (- infinity , infinity ) weight function. Changing the parameters of a Gaussian weight function superposition states with different amplitude-squeezed and number-phase uncertainty properties can be prepared.

A theoretical review of the use of optical solitons in fibres for high speed communication is presented with emphasis on recent progress in soliton control. An optical soliton is a pulse of light in a fibre produced by a balance of group velocity dispersion and cubic non-linearity. Twenty years after its discovery, optical solitons are rapidly attracting interest from technical as well as scientific communities thanks to progress in coherent light source, fibre amplifier and other photonic devices and surprising agreement of the theoretical predictions with experimental observations.

We study even- and odd-displaced squeezed states, which were proposed by us as 1/Ne(D(z)+D(-z))S(r) mod 0) and 1/N0(D(z)-D(-z))S(r) mod 0). We find: (i) when z is real, the 2Nth moments in both states are larger than in the ordinary squeezed state; (ii) for the same z= mod z mod , the two states can not exhibit stronger squeezing than the squeezed state in the same order; (iii) under the condition mod z mod e-r square root 2>>1, the even (odd)-displaced squeezed state can respectively exhibit stronger (4k-2) (4k)-order (k=1,2,3,...) squeezing than the squeezed state.

The Barut-Girardello states (the eigenstates of the SU(1, 1) lowering generator K- are considered in the harmonic oscillator Hilbert space. They are found to have sub-Poissonian photon statistics. By using these states, the diagonal P-representation of the density operator is constructed, and it is shown to be well behaved for non-classical photon states.

The quantum statistics of higher harmonics and subharmonics generation processes is studied in an exact way. By means of the described numerical way the Q-distributions and Wigner distributions are calculated and presented. The non-classical effects are examined and corresponding relations are derived.

Detuning the laser and the pump light from the atomic transitions in a three-level Raman laser can lead to a strong stabilization of the intracavity photon number. The corresponding Mandel Q parameter attains highly non-classical values very close to its optimum of Q=-1 and thus is significantly smaller than for the resonant case or the regularly pumped laser Q>- 1/2 . Subsequently we show that inhomogeneous Doppler broadening of the atomic lines does not drastically influence the non-classical behaviour of the intracavity field as long as the laser is operated sufficiently far above threshold.

It is shown that the Bayesian methods in statistics can be used to solve problems in continuous photodetection with dramatically reduced effort compared with the traditional superoperator approach.
结果表明,统计学中的贝叶斯方法与传统的超算子方法相比,可以有效地解决连续光探测问题。

In recent years much attention has been paid to the quantized evolution of the centre-of-mass momentum and position of ultracold atoms in light fields. We consider the effects resulting from the quantization of the external angular momentum variables. We investigate how spin and orbital angular momentum of light are transferred to internal and external angular momentum of an atom in dipole and quadrupole transitions.

Theoretical methods for treating propagation in quantum optics are developed, in which the momentum operator is used in addition to the Hamiltonian. A quantum mechanical analysis is given for various physical systems which include amplification and coupling between electromagnetic modes. A quantum mechanical theory for distributed feedback lasers (DFBL) is described.
