For the purpose of testing, a shallow-water object was selected on the territory of Russia, for which seasonal fluctuations in the water level lead to significant changes in resources. Abstract

A technique has been developed that allows determining the volume of water resources of hydro-graphic objects using materials from remote sensing of the Earth and a digital terrain model (DEM) of the terrain. The task is relevant, especially in conditions of inaccessibility or difficult approaches to the object. The technique includes the use or construction of a DEM of the bottom of a water body according to bathymetric survey data, the transformation of satellite images into a projection most corresponding to the Earth's surface at these latitudes, the definition of the contour of the shoreline of the reservoir and the calculation of the volume of water.
