A Cartografia Escolar e os caminhos para a construção do pensamento geográfico

Abstract

A grande missão da Geografia escolar é levar a sociedade a observar e analisar o mundo pelas lentes desta ciência. A vista disso, compete à Educação Geográfica a tarefa de ensinar o cidadão a pensar geograficamente, promovendo a alfabetização espacial e cartográfica dos alunos, e isso pode ser consolidado metodologicamente através do uso da Cartografia escolar, desenvolvendo nos discentes este pensamento. Diante do exposto, este artigo tem como objetivo analisar as contribuições da Cartografia escolar, através do uso de mapas mentais, para o desenvolvimento do pensamento geográfico nos alunos do 6º e 8º anos do ensino fundamental. Para tanto, foi realizada pesquisas bibliográficas e duas intervenções escolares: uma na turma de 6º ano da Escola Municipal Irmão Damião Clemente em Lagoa Seca-PB e outro na turma de 8º ano da Escola Municipal Cônego Ambrósio Silva (EMCAS) em Cruzeta-RN. Durante as intervenções a prática da Cartografia escolar foi trabalhada através da construção de mapas mentais, revelando o seu conteúdo, através da representação, como também a leitura do mundo do autor e de como ele se ver nesse espaço, apresentando também um caráter político e cidadão. School Cartography and the paths for the construction of geographic thinking Abstract The great mission of school geography is to lead society to observe and analyze the world through the lens of this science. In this context, Geographic Education has to teach citizens to think geographically, promoting students’ spatial and cartographic literacy, which can be methodologically consolidated through the use of school Cartography, developing this thinking in students. Given the above, this article aimed to analyze the contributions of school cartography using mental maps for the development of geographic thinking in of the 6th and 8th of elementary school students. To this end, a bibliographical research was carried out and two school interventions were carried out: one in the 6th-grade class of the Irmão Damião Clemente Municipal School in Lagoa Seca, state of Paraíba, and another in the 8th-grade class of the Cônego Ambrósio Silva Municipal School (EMCAS) in Cruzeta, state of Rio Grande do Norte. During the interventions, school cartography was worked through the construction of mental maps, revealing their content, through representation, as well as the reading of the author’s world and how he/she sees him/herself in this space, also presenting a political and citizen character.
