Three challenges in Implementing multimodal learning analytics in real-world learning environments

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis commentary examines how the field of Multimodal Learning Analytics (MMLA; Blikstein, 2013) can support learning and teaching. More specifically, I focus on the challenges of implementing multimodal systems in real-world settings, and how lab findings can impact educational practices. I discuss the kinds of multimodal metrics we should pay attention to, how to capture them in ecological settings, and how the data can be shared with learners and teachers.
