Abstract
Background and objectivesNon-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease in developed countries, contributing to ∼24% of cases worldwide and includes non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. NAFLD is characterized by lipid accumulation rather than alcohol consumption.
