Abstract

In this article an effort has been made to review the approaches made on conserving the moisture through in-situ conservation techniques and mechanical measures employed to conserve soil and water with different conservational practices such as basin listing, compartmental bunding, tie ridging, ridge formation, check basin formation etc. has analyzed and the effect of these conservational practices on yield of crop, effect of mechanical machine parameters on basin dimensions and its performance and finally, advantage of these conservational practices in terms of net returns to farmers has been highlighted.
