Abstract

So that the work on halal certification can develop over time. This article aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of halal certification in Indonesia in the period after the issuance of regulations regarding Halal Product Guarantee (JPH). Halal certification was initially under the authority of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), then after the JPH Law was issued, halal certification was delegated to BPJPH (Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency) which is under the control of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. This could also be imitated by various changes in policies related to halal certification. With the existence of BPJPH, halal certification for every business actor becomes mandatory.
