TRA COLOMBO E PRANDI. UNA RASSEGNA RAGIONATA DELLE ALTRE GRAMMATICHE DI RIFERIMENTO

Abstract

Per capire quanto sia stato innovativo l’articolo di Colombo Coordinazione e coesione testuale del 1984, incentrato sulla differenza tra congiunzioni e avverbi anaforici e di conseguenza sulla differenza tra coordinazione e giustapposizione, in rapporto a quanto preesisteva sul tema in Italia e all’estero, e alla descrizione delle grammatiche che saranno pubblicate successivamente, l’articolo passa in rassegna le più importanti grammatiche di riferimento moderne dell’italiano, a partire da quelle pubblicate nel 1988, anno che segna un “nuovo inizio” nella storia della grammaticografia italiana. Il punto di arrivo della proposta di Colombo, a cui rinviano tutti gli articoli inclusi nel presente volume, è rappresentato dalla teoria del linguista Michele Prandi, secondo il quale anche la distinzione tra coordinazione e giustapposizione, oltre che quella tra congiunzioni e avverbi anaforici, è netta e rigorosa. Lo scopo dell’articolo, dunque, non si esaurisce nella pura rassegna, ma affronta in modo ragionato le varie descrizioni grammaticali nel tentativo di ricostruire, sulla differenza in questione, il quadro delineato dalle più importanti grammatiche scientifiche moderne.   Between Colombo and Prandi. An annotated review of other reference grammars   In order to understand how innovative was Colombo’s 1984 article Coordinazione e coesione testuale (Coordination and Textual Cohesion) focusing on the difference between conjunctions and anaphoric adverbs and consequently on the difference between coordination and juxtaposition, in relation to what existed on the subject in Italy and abroad, and to the description of the grammars that would be published subsequently, the article reviews the most important modern reference Italian grammars, starting with those published in 1988, a year that marks a “new beginning” in the history of Italian grammar. The point of arrival of Colombo’s proposal, to which all the articles included in this volume refer, is represented by the theory of linguist Michele Prandi, according to whom the distinction between coordination and juxtaposition, as well as that between conjunctions and anaphoric adverbs, is clear and rigorous. The purpose of this article, therefore, does not consist in a pure review, but in dealing in a reasoned manner with the various grammatical descriptions in an attempt to reconstruct the framework outlined by the main modern scientific grammars on the difference in question.
