The Critical Success Factors for Electric Vehicle Adoption Among Malaysian Drivers

Abstract

This research paper examines the efficacy of key success factors (CSFs) in the context of electric vehicle (EV) adoption among drivers in Malaysia. The CSFs examined in this study are infrastructure readiness (IR), perceived value pricing (PVP), and environmental conservation (ECV). The questionnaire had a respondent’s size of 253 drivers from Malaysia, with the intention of facilitating extensive and unconstrained talks including both road users and road safety specialists. A technique was developed with the aim of identifying the primary elements that contribute to the promotion of safe driving behaviour. The study's findings suggest a correlation between the utilisation of electric vehicles and the indicators of IR, PVP, and ECV. Therefore, this study provides an opportunity for experts to get insight into the effectiveness of the currently established CSFs that influence the utilisation of EV. This study aims to contribute valuable insights to the existing body of literature on the utilisation of EV by offering comprehensive information on the efficacy of CSFs and their impact on EV adoption. The findings of the study revealed a statistically significant association between the adoption of EV concepts and the driver behaviour. Many studies have been conducted pertaining to the subject matter of electric vehicles in a broad context. However, there is a dearth of comprehensive research studies that particularly examine the subject of efficiency in critical success factors pertaining to the utilisation of electric vehicles in Malaysia.
