Effect of Self-Care Module on Selected Outcomes among Patients with Bronchial Asthma

Abstract

Background: Bronchial asthma is considered one of the major problems of health care systems in many countries. Asthma in particular, affects the quality of life, social and economic issues, and can lead to poor health outcomes. Self-care management is a keystone in asthma management. It helps patients achieve better control of their bronchial asthma symptoms and is vital for their overall health and well-being. Self-care module improves asthma knowledge and treatment adherence, decreases disease-related events, and improves the patient’s self-efficacy. Aim: was to evaluate the effect of self-care module on selected outcomes among patients with bronchial asthma. Design: A quasi experimental (pre-posttest control group design) was utilized. Tools: Patient’s Demographic and Medical background Questionnaires; Asthma patient's knowledge questionnaires; Morisky Medication Adherence Scale; and Self Efficacy for Managing Chronic Disease.
