Abstract

Abstract The intermetallic ytterbium compounds YbZnSn, YbPdSn2, YbAuIn2 and their calcium-substituted counterparts Yb0.5Ca0.5ZnSn, Yb0.5Ca0.5PdSn2 and Yb0.5Ca0.5AuIn2 were synthesized by reaction of the elements in sealed tantalum tubes in an induction furnace.
