Body-in-practice thus explains how shame weakens, pride strengthens, emotions stabilize, and self-confidence grows. Abstract

Stigma, as a process of shame, fosters social exclusion and diminishes bodily competences. Thus, stigmatized consumers often turn to the marketplace for respite.
