The stimulation of synapses by HFS and LFS+HFS increased the phosphorylation of total-tau and phospho-tau at the Thr181, Ser202/Thr205, Ser396 and Ser416 residues, and these were accompanied by increased enzymatic activity of Akt, ERK1/2. The increased phosphorylation of tau may mediate maintenance of LTP. Abstract
