Abstract

One new species, Ghilarella elegantula sp. nov., in the family Sepulcidae is described and illustrated based on a well-preserved compression fossil specimen from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of northeastern China. The new species is characterized by having a large body size; forewing with costal area obviously narrowed basally, Sc and 2r-m absent, 1-Rs short, cell 1mcu large; and ovipositor elongated.
