Research suggests that anticipatory distress can significantly hinder minorities' adherence to colonoscopy recommendations. There is significant promise that hypnosis may effectively reduce such distress. The current study examined African-Americans' and Latinos' (n = 213) perceptions of using hypnosis prior to a colonoscopy. Overall, 69.9% of the sample expressed favourable perceptions of using pre-colonoscopy hypnosis, although there was notable variability.
