BIBLIOTECA DIRECȚIEI GENERALE A ARHIVELOR STATULUI. ÎNCEPUTURI ȘI EVOLUȚIE (1862-1914)

Abstract

In 1862, the Bucharest and Iași Archives have unified under a General Directorate. A document from 1862 mentions the beginnings of the establishment of the Archives library, by allocating funds for the purchase of books. In the same year, the position of librarian appears in the staff organization chart. All the directors were concerned with enriching the book fund necessary for the research. Thus, the methods of book acquisition: purchase, donations, internal and international exchanges, as well as the record-keeping tools were outlined. In this sense, the efforts of Grigore Manu, Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu, Dimitrie Onciul, who developed the Archives library and they insisted on appointing a specialized staff to deal with it.
