This study has three main stages: an overview of the main definitions of the concepts “engineering and production chain” and “model”, the generation of working definitions of these concepts for the purposes of this article, and synthesis of a model of the main engineering and production chains in the Smart factory of Industry 4.0. It was concluded in the course of the analysis that the defined six main engineering and production chains in the Smart factory of Industry 4.0 are part of its cyber–physical production system. The tools that support the Model of the main engineering and production chains in the Smart factory of Industry 4.0 are also synthesized in this article. Abstract
