Abstract
The concept of a Resilient City is considered one of the most important contemporary trends in sustainable planning, due to the many risks that cities are exposed to. Parks can support underlying environmental functions and offer several social-ecological advantages when they are strategically located, constructed, and managed. Parks represent one of the most important components of the city and by achieving resilience for an important element in the city, this is reflected in supporting the urban resilience of the city as a whole. The research problem focuses on neglecting the role of parks in achieving the city’s urban resilience, and the absence of clear indicators to activate its resilience in cities. The research addresses the issue by defining a comprehensive theoretical framework that integrates resilient park guidelines and comes up with a proposal for indicators for activating resilient parks. The Egyptian cities, which are developing countries, were chosen to apply the concepts of the study to them. The research deals with the monitoring and analysis of a set of city resilience assessment tools, to reach the most appropriate tools for evaluating one of the components of the city and appropriate to the nature of Egyptian cities and to be guided by this tool to extract a set of proposed indicators for evaluating the resilience park. The City Resilience Index (CRI) tool was developed based on the City Resilience Framework (CRF) and was selected as the best-fit measurement tool. This highlighted the main findings of the research and suggested indicators of park resilience activation.

Journal of Engineering Research (JER) is a international, peer reviewed journal which publishes full length original research papers, reviews, case studies related to all areas of Engineering such as: Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Computer, Chemical, Petroleum, Aerospace, Architectural, Biomedical, Coastal, Environmental, Marine & Ocean, Metallurgical & Materials, software, Surveying, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering. In particular, JER focuses on innovative approaches and methods that contribute to solving the environmental and manufacturing problems, which exist primarily in the Arabian Gulf region and the Middle East countries. Kuwait University used to publish the Journal "Kuwait Journal of Science and Engineering" (ISSN: 1024-8684), which included Science and Engineering articles since 1974. In 2011 the decision was taken to split KJSE into two independent Journals - "Journal of Engineering Research "(JER) and "Kuwait Journal of Science" (KJS).
