Abstract

Polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) deposited on porous composite poly-lactic acid (PDLA)/poly( $\varepsilon $ -caprolactone) (PEC) substrates are investigated. The substrates are charged with a corona discharge. The dependence of the normalized surface potentials on the storage time of the charged substrates is studied. Layer-by-layer (LbL) technique enables multilayer deposition on the substrates. A model drug Benzydamine hydrochloride (Benz) is loaded into the chitosan layers. A study of the drug release kinetics in saline buffer is carried out and the amount released is quantified spectrophotometrically.
