Despite conservative treatment and a thorough workup, the patient's ulnar-sided hand pain did not improve. An ultrasound eventually revealed myositis ossificans within the abductor digiti minimi muscle. The patient received an ultrasound-guided fenestration and injection of lidocaine and dexamethasone into the affected muscle, leading to complete symptom resolution. Myositis ossificans is often secondary to trauma, causing bone formation in soft tissue, leading to pain, limited range of motion, and disability.
