Future research must focus on understanding the complex interactions between diet, the microbiome and cancer in order to optimize personalized interventions. Multidisciplinary collaborations are essential if we are going to translate microbiome research into clinical practice. The human microbiome is a diverse ecosystem of microorganisms that reside in the body and influence various aspects of health and well-being.
