In total 14 breeding (or probably breeding) seabird species were detected on Amsterdam Island, among which eight burrowing petrels including two species never described on the island: the Juan Fernandez petrel <i>Pterodroma externa</i> and the sooty sherwater <i>Ardenna grisea</i>.
