The latest update from the WHO and the alerts given regarding the status of mpox follows an upsurge in the incidence and severity of mpox in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and an increasing number of African countries, with spread to other continents and countries This Editorial aims to provide an update on the current status of mpox and includes reasons for the increasing global concerns for the spread of the mpox virus (MPXV).
