Abstract
The article presents traditions of the village Nij associated with the enlightener of Albania St. Ełiše (Elisaeus) and his disciple-martyrs. The festival occasions are provided in a diachronic reality indicating gradual but rapid changes in the religious life of the village and the significant role of the Saint’s figure and sanctuaries dedicated to him for the maintenance of the identity of Udis. In addition, some new archival materials are used.
