The results reveal a significant dependence of the surface passive film’s stability on the Nb concentration. Using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), the chemical composition of the passive films formed on the NiTiNb alloys was characterized. Microstructural analysis showed that increasing Nb content affects the volume fraction of the eutectic microconstituent, leading to the suppression of martensite and secondary Ni-Ti phases in the microstructure with higher Nb additions. The findings demonstrate that localized corrosion resistance improves with Nb additions, attributed to the incorporation of Nb<sub>2</sub>O<sub>5</sub> into the TiO<sub>2</sub> passive film, enhancing its protective capacity.
