This PPy-coated rubber foam was used as sorbent for the solid-phase extraction of carbendazim in fresh orange juice. The extracted carbendazim was quantified by high performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). Under the optimal conditions, the method exhibited linearity in the range of 25–1000 µg kg<sup>−1</sup> with a limit of detection (LOD) of 24.1 µg kg<sup>−1</sup> and a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 80.5 µg kg<sup>−1</sup>. Good reproducibility (RSD < 2.5 %, n = 6) and good reusability (RSD < 3.8 %, n = 10) were achieved. The sorbent was applied to extract carbendazim in fresh orange juice. Accuracy was excellent and recoveries were attained from 81.6 % to 104.8 %. The found carbendazim in real samples ranged from 40.0 µg kg<sup>−1</sup> to 101.1 µg kg<sup>−1</sup>.
