Abstract
Like most journals, BJUI relies on the hard work and dedication of its peer reviewers and we are grateful to them all. Each month the Editorial Team nominates peer reviewers whose reviews have stood out for their quality and timeliness and those selected as the best are highlighted on this page in recognition of their exceptional work.
Ulrich Mehnert is a urologist with training in Germany, France and Switzerland, and has had an accredited specialisation in neuro-urology since 2018.
He is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology and earned his PhD from the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. Since 2018, he has served as a senior consultant at the Department of Neuro-Urology at Balgrist University Hospital in Zürich, Switzerland, and holds an affiliation as a senior lecturer at the University of Zürich.
Since 2011, Ulrich Mehnert has served as vice-chairman of the Swiss Continence Foundation and co-hosted the annual International Neuro-Urology Meetings in Zürich, Switzerland, from 2012 to 2019. In 2015, he co-founded the International Neuro-Urology Society (INUS) and served as its first treasurer until 2019. He is an active member of several national and international societies and also serves as a reviewer for multiple medical journals.
Alistair Rogers has been a consultant urological surgeon in Newcastle upon Tyne for the last 10 years. After registrar training, he undertook a fellowship in Endourology and Renal Transplantation at the Freeman hospital. His clinical practice covers kidney stone disease and complex endo urology, trans and retroperitoneal laparoscopic nephrectomy and urological aspects of kidney transplantation. He is part of the living kidney transplant team performing donor nephrectomy.
His research interests include urinary infections in endourology, ureteric stricture disease and transplant urology. He has had numerous publications and reviews papers for several journals. He has a broad teaching portfolio, is a committed trainer and is a member of the regional Senior Training Committee. He established and is director of the RCS accredited Newcastle Stone/endourology Fellowship. Simulation training is a particular interest and he is director of the Newcastle Cadaveric Ureteric Stricture and Metal Stent course, as well as the international Newcastle PCNL course.
