Abstract

Effective management of technology has become the engine for development. However, the fuzzy nature of technology development and management renders decision-makers dependent on credible information for technology-related decisions. A patent, a techno-legal document granted by the government to inventors to protect their inventions from imitation, proves to be a rich source of information. Various analytical tools can be employed on patent data to gain insights about managing technology strategically. The article conducts a scoping review to assess the application of patent analysis in technology management.
