Celebrating the 50 years of excellence in women's health: The 50th anniversary of The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Research

The journal's transformation over the decades is nothing short of impressiveness. From its humble beginnings, JOGR has grown to become a leading publication in the medical community. This evolution is attributed to its unwavering commitment to scientific rigor and integrity. The journal's dedication to publishing high-quality research has provided a trusted platform for researchers, clinicians, and educators worldwide to share their insights and discoveries. Also, journal is not simply to disseminate new knowledge about medical theory and practice. It also defines the scope of medical concerns and articulated norms for physicians' professional and social roles.³

The influence of JOGR is evident in its increasing impact factor (IF), citations, and circulation. These metrics reflect the journal's role in advancing medical knowledge and practice. The growth in submissions highlights the journal's reputation as a prestigious venue for cutting-edge research. The concerted efforts to reduce plagiarism and ensure ethical practices have further cemented JOGR's status as a beacon of scholarly excellence.²

JOGR's contributions span a broad spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology, from prenatal care and maternal-fetal medicine to reproductive endocrinology gynecologic oncology and urogynecology. By showcasing the latest advancements and best practices, the journal empowers healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care, ultimately improving outcomes and enhancing the quality of life for women globally.

The success of JOGR is also a testament to the dedication and expertise of its editorial board and reviewers. Their meticulous attention to detail ensures the integrity and excellence of each publication. The collective efforts of the editorial team have maintained the journal's reputation as a leading source of reliable and impactful research.

As JOGR continues to navigate the complexities of modern healthcare and confront new challenges in women's health, its role becomes increasingly pivotal. To ensure its ongoing success, it is crucial to focus on further increasing the impact factor and citations, expanding the circulation, and attracting high-quality submissions. Continuous efforts to uphold ethical standards and reduce inappropriate practices will maintain the journal's integrity and credibility.

As the flagship of AOFOG, the role of JOGR should partner with AOFOG to play a mechanism of give- and -take between them, that is at the heart of society journal and will enable both society and journal to thrive in the future. Of great importance is the symbiotic relationship between Journal and society that will help journal fulfill its newly articulated mission.

As many ideas emerge first in the Society's discussions, the journal may curate these ideas through selection of which concepts merit publication and the society presents opportunities for these new ideas to be tested against a broader audience, repeated exposure to comment and discussion.^{4, 5}

From a personal perspective, my involvement with the Asian Oceania Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOFOG) has been profoundly enriching. Serving in various capacities, including President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Chairman of Education Fun, Founding Chair of Urogynecology and Council Member, I have witnessed the transformative impact of the scholarly journal, JOGR. This platform is instrumental in advancing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and promoting evidence-based practice.

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of JOGR, we honor its legacy of excellence and its vital contributions to women's health. The journal's achievements are a testament to the hard work and dedication of its editorial team and contributors. Looking ahead, I am confident that JOGR will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of obstetrics and gynecology, driving innovation, and improving the lives of women worldwide; thus, JOGR and its peers maintain substantial influence on both the medical profession and society. Also, I would be happy to be looking forward to seeing the journal has persisted, adapting to changing environments and embracing new opportunities and continue to manage not just the shifting landscape of the production and publishing of medical knowledge, and also the broader currents of their social, economic, and political contexts.
