Abstract

Exposure to cigarette smoke significantly enhances susceptibility to bacterial infections by inducing physiological and structural alterations, including immune system dysregulation. This exposure also augments bacterial virulence including biofilm formation, leading to severe infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance.
