Abstract
Expression of Concern:A. Kumar, N. Begum, S. Prasad, A. K. Lamba, M. Verma, S. Agarwal, S. Sharma, “ Role of Cytokines in Development of Pre-Eclampsia Associated with Periodontal Disease – Cohort Study,” Journal of Clinical Periodontology41, no. 4 (2014): 357–365. https://doi.org/10.1111/jcpe.12226.
This Expression of Concern is for the above article, published online on 06 January 2014, in Wiley Online Library (wileyonlinelibrary.com), and has been issued by agreement between the journal Editor-in-Chief Panos N. Papapanou; and John Wiley and Sons Ltd. A third party raised concerns regarding unusual patterns in the data that suggested potential errors in data handling. The authors responded to an inquiry by the publisher and provided an explanation for these patterns in the data, but stated that the original data for the study conducted are unavailable due to the length of time since publication as well as requirements from the 2017 guidelines from the Indian Council of Medical Research. Following an evaluation of the available data by an external statistician, Wiley and the journal have determined that the analyses that have been conducted show evidence of flaws. The journal is issuing this Expression of Concern because the journal is not able to verify the accuracy of the data and the analyses in this article without the underlying dataset. Author N. Begum agrees with the Expression of Concern. Author A. Kumar does not agree with the Expression of Concern. All other authors did not respond to the notice regarding the Expression of Concern.

Journal of Clinical Periodontology was founded by the British, Dutch, French, German, Scandinavian, and Swiss Societies of Periodontology.
The aim of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology is to provide the platform for exchange of scientific and clinical progress in the field of Periodontology and allied disciplines, and to do so at the highest possible level. The Journal also aims to facilitate the application of new scientific knowledge to the daily practice of the concerned disciplines and addresses both practicing clinicians and academics. The Journal is the official publication of the European Federation of Periodontology but wishes to retain its international scope.
The Journal publishes original contributions of high scientific merit in the fields of periodontology and implant dentistry. Its scope encompasses the physiology and pathology of the periodontium, the tissue integration of dental implants, the biology and the modulation of periodontal and alveolar bone healing and regeneration, diagnosis, epidemiology, prevention and therapy of periodontal disease, the clinical aspects of tooth replacement with dental implants, and the comprehensive rehabilitation of the periodontal patient. Review articles by experts on new developments in basic and applied periodontal science and associated dental disciplines, advances in periodontal or implant techniques and procedures, and case reports which illustrate important new information are also welcome.
