Abstract

Superhydrophobic Surfaces

In article number 2403863, Seyed Mehran Mirmohammadi, Ville Jokinen, and co-workers used a bio-inspired method to create durable superhydrophobic surfaces with anisotropic properties, mimicking leek leaves. These PDMS replicas feature microgrooves that replicate the leaf's structure, leading to anisotropic wetting, anti-icing, and light-scattering effects. The modified candle soot coating process, along with microgrooves, also protects the superhydrophobicity against bending, abrasion, and ice adhesion.
