Abstract
It is well known that antimicrobial resistance poses a major threat to human health worldwide. For this reason, it is important to obtain new compounds to combat microbial pathogens. Because of this, in this study, some thiazole-Schiff base derivatives were synthesized, and characterized by spectroscopic techniques, and their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties evaluated. Antimicrobial activities were assessed using the broth microdilution method and expressed as a minimum inhibitory concentration against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. From these compounds, compounds (8) and (9) demonstrated significant antimicrobial activity. Also, compound (5) showed the strongest antioxidant activity. According to us, the synthesis of new thiazole-Schiff-based molecules and evaluation of their antimicrobial effects are important in the development of new drugs.
