Abstract
Divorce is one of life's distressing experiences. Increasing divorce rates disrupt not just the lives of individuals but also the broader social fabric. Divorce profoundly affects the circumstances of divorcees, impacting their social, financial, physical, mental and emotional well-being. Divorce has a greater adverse effect on women's health, quality of life, self-determination, circumstances, autonomy, and social connections. The present study focused on divorce and women by performing a bibliometric analysis of 435 SCOPUS publications to examine their global productivity and intellectual structure. The analysis revealed that the United States of America produced the most documents, especially in the top journals with the most cited authors identifying the direct consequences of divorce and correlations among its negative effects. Bibliometric and co-citation analyses identified the research categories and areas of study that could guide future research and policy efforts to reduce negative consequences while supporting women to work toward improved mental health and a more satisfying post-divorce life.
