Abstract
Like most journals, BJUI relies on the hard work and dedication of its peer reviewers and we are grateful to them all. Each month the Editorial Team nominates peer reviewers whose reviews have stood out for their quality and timeliness and those selected as the best are highlighted on this page in recognition of their exceptional work.
Jessica DeLong earned her MD from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia in 2007 and was appointed to the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Spanish at the University of Virginia in 2003. Both her surgery internship and urology residency were completed at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Massachusetts in 2013. She then went on to complete her fellowship in Reconstructive Urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2014. She is an Associate Professor of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. DeLong specializes in pelvic floor and genitourinary reconstruction, including urethral stricture, Peyronie's disease, erectile dysfunction, male and female incontinence and complicated urinary disorders.
Prof. Vincenzo Ficarra is full professor of Urology, Director of Department of Urology and Residency Program of Urology at University of Messina, Italy. He is Director of Department of Oncology of Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria “G. Martino”, of Messina. He is head of Scientific Committee of Italian Society of Urology Professor of Urology and Member of Board of Directors of International SIU. He is the author of 485 papers published on international journals indexed in Medline and 519 papers indexed in Scopus. His current citation index is 28 068, the h index is 83.
In 2008, he was the winner of the Crystal Matula Award. He was Member of the first Consensus Conference on Robot-assisted Radical Prostatectomy in Pasadena (Los Angeles, USA) and responsible for the scientific working group of EAU–ERUS section. He was member of EAU panel on Live Surgery rules. Currently, he is an active member of the Academy of Association of European Urology (AAEU).
Peng Hong, MD, is an attending physician from Department of Urology, Peking University Third Hospital. He has conducted relevant research on urothelial carcinoma and renal cell carcinoma, and identified that ureteroscopy would increase the risk of bladder recurrence in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma, and that some female patients could choose to preserve the reproductive system during radical cystectomy. In addition, he has also conducted research on the immune microenvironment and prognosis of urothelial carcinoma. In the field of renal cell carcinoma research, he focuses on the research of renal cell carcinoma with tumor thrombus and has reported on the innovations of surgical treatment techniques for renal cell carcinoma with tumor thrombus many times, and has proposed the diagnostic and treatment strategies for tumor thrombus with thrombosis.
Eugenio Ventimiglia is a Urologist and researcher at the Dept. of Urology of the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy. He obtained his PhD in epidemiology from Uppsala University (Sweden) and the Diplôme Universitaire en Lithiase Urinaire from Sorbonne University (Paris). He also completed a clinical fellowship at the Tenon Hospital in Paris.
