Abstract

Introduction

In Colombia, there are few studies carried out on the association of working conditions and their relationship with the presence or absence of adverse events and the presentation of a second victim. Second victims have been defined as the actors in charge of providing any health service and those who participate in some way in an adverse event. Impacting clinical care processes, lengthening hospital stay and lower job satisfaction.

Objectives

Determine the relationship between working conditions and their elevation with adverse events and second victims in physiotherapy professionals due to the Covid-19 pandemic in a high complexity hospital in Bogotá, Colombia.

Methodology

Cross-sectional analytical study in which surveys were applied to investigate working conditions, presence of adverse events and perception of a second victim in 2021. Descriptive and bivariate analyzes were carried out using the SPSS v statistical software. 25.

Results

The results It was observed that 46.6% (n = 7) of professionals who experienced adverse events in the last year also presented work exhaustion. However, a small percentage, 3.8% (n = 1) indicated having committed an adverse event without feeling exhausted or having burnout syndrome.

Conclusions

it was possible to identify a high percentage of physiotherapists who presented work exhaustion. And added to that condition, they had presented an adverse event, for which they were never followed up and supported in the face of the deterioration of their physical and mental health after the presentation of the event.
