Abstract

The most recent state of research on Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antennas for involvement in 5G mobile communications, radio frequency identification, smartphones, handheld devices, automobile applications, portable devices, wireless sensors, and other applications is presented in this paper. This review paper discusses several design techniques and processes, as well as the basics and performance metrics of MIMO antennas. The objective of this work is to review the recent research and development trends and highlight a few novel approaches in antenna design that demand MIMO applications. Furthermore, this review article discusses various techniques reported in the literature to reduce mutual coupling through different MIMO antenna design approaches.
