Abstract

Willy Sansen created the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) Department of Electrical Engineering-Medical Instrumentation Circuits and Systems (ESAT-MICAS) research division in 1984, and Michiel Steyaert was the second professor to join that group after Prof. Bob Puers. It was the time when the entire world started to abandon analog circuit design, the focus was on digital and automated design, and Imec was created in Leuven a few years later.
