AAP urges caution in diagnosing, treating PANS

Abstract

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) last year released a clinical report on Pediatric Acute-Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS). Noting that PANS is “likely” a valid diagnosis, the AAP was concerned about the lack of evidence to guide clinicians in diagnosing it. And the validity of the diagnosis itself, therefore, isn't always clear.
