Abstract

An ionic liquid (IL)-based electrolyte using quaternary ammonium IL (triethyl methyl ammonium chloride (N2221Cl)) as additives is proposed to effectively inhibit the growth of zinc (Zn) dendrites and the shuttling effect of I3- ions, which significantly improves the cycle life of Zn-iodine (I2) batteries (ZIBs).
