Abstract

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disorder for which the cause is currently unknown, which has implications for drug development. In recent years, blood biomarkers have shown great potential in the early diagnosis of AD, and rapid advances in disease-modifying therapies have opened new possibilities for early treatment. In this article, we review the latest research on biomarkers related to Alzheimer's diagnosis and discuss the prospects of preclinical interventions, such as the use of natural extracts and probiotics in disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) via the gut-brain axis and other pathways, which provide new ideas for future therapeutic strategies and management of Alzheimer's disease.
