Redefining the concept of green transformational leadership through psychometric analysis: Evidence from educational setup of developing country prospective

Abstract

The current study endeavors to explore the novel realm of green transformational leadership within the academic context. Employing a theoretical foundation rooted in the Bass Model of transformational leadership, this pioneering approach dissects four distinct attributes of green transformational leadership through rigorous psychometric analysis. The study sources data from two distinct groups: top management within educational administration and teaching faculty in higher education, both possessing substantial administrative experience. Rigorous data analysis, using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and the Measurement Model assessed through Smart PLS, reveals that an initial set of 26 items was generated, with 15 items ultimately preserved and grouped into four distinct dimensions of green transformational leadership. These newly formulated dimensions were substantiated through tests of Convergent, Discriminate, and Nomo logical Validity. Notably, the study found that the association between green individualized consideration and teachers' performance through innovation lacked support in the analysis. Furthermore, the study highlights that recent research on green transformational leadership has largely utilized a streamlined construct comprising merely six items. In contrast, the present study offers educational researchers a comprehensive understanding of green transformational leadership and its attributes linked to top management's environmentally conscious conduct within an academic setting.
