Abstract

This report describes 2 cases of cementoblastoma in patients with distinct ages, an adolescent, and elderly. A 17-year-old female presented with a painful swelling in the posterior mandible. Computed tomography revealed a hyperdense and well-delimited lesion, surrounded a hypodense halo, associated with the root of the right mandibular first molar. The second case refers to a 61-year-old female who presented with a painless lesion identified in a routine radiographic examination. The imaging features were similar to the first case. The lesion involved the root of the mandibular left first molar. Cementoblastoma was the clinic-radiographic diagnosis in both cases, which were excised with extractions of involved teeth. Macroscopically, masses of calcified tissue fused to the dental roots were observed. Microscopically, trabeculae of cementoid material adhered to the dental roots, cementoblasts, and cementocytes were noted, confirming the diagnosis of cementoblastoma. The patients remain without signs of recurrence after 8 months of treatment.
