Abstract

This Viewpoint discusses the differences between Medicare Advantage (MA) and traditional Medicare and the trade-offs between service and convenience that beneficiaries make when selecting MA; highlights factors that make switching from MA to traditional Medicare difficult or impossible (the MA “trap”); and suggests possible reforms.
