Abstract

The Blumlein rectangular pulse generator is suitable for the calibration of nanosecond impulse measurement due to its fast response and high-voltage gain. However, pulse waveform distortion commonly occurs, creating challenges for accurate measurement calibration. This article focuses on the coaxial Blumlein generator and systematically studies the factors influencing its output. Parasitic parameters around the load and switch are examined by circuit simulation in PSPICE. Taking into account the inherent properties of the coaxial cables, a simulation model is also developed in CST.
