FVRP facilitates the accumulation of short-chain fatty acids. Untargeted metabolomic analyses of cecal content revealed that FVRP treatment notably restored the levels of 32 endogenous metabolites altered by CTX. Based on a pseudosterility mice model, fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), and fecal filtrate transplantation (FFT), gut microbiota and associated metabolites were demonstrated to play a crucial role in the immunomodulatory and protective effects of FVRP against intestinal injury. This study elucidated the mechanisms underlying the immunoregulatory and gut-microbiota-modulating effects of Flammulina velutipes residue polysaccharide (FVRP) using cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced mouse models.
