Abstract

The paper investigates some aspects of bunch formation in a radiofrequency (RF) electron gun with a semiconductor photocathode. We numerically solve the drift–diffusion problems for excessive electron and hole concentrations inside the semiconductor medium influenced by picosecond laser pulses and an accelerated field of an RF cavity.
